Understand which criminal files can be viewed

The clerk identifies felony, misdemeanor and criminal-traffic files as publicly viewable unless sealed, expunged or confidential by law. A sealed file requires a court order to unseal before its contents can be viewed. Paying for a copy does not remove those restrictions.

Read the disposition and the actual order when the outcome matters. An arrest, charge or pending case does not by itself prove a conviction. A public index entry also does not guarantee that every document image is available; use Court Records for a permitted document missing from the screen.

Choose plain or paper-certified copies and budget by unit

Court-document copies cost $1 per page, certification adds $2 per document, and an assisted record search costs $2 per name per year. Computer searches and physical file viewing are free. A ten-page paper copy with one certification therefore has $12 in listed copy/certification charges before any other applicable service charge.

The fee page accepts bank checks, money orders, cash in person, qualifying in-state checks and cards. It lists a 3.5% card transaction charge. Checks or money orders are payable to Nikki Alvarez-Sowles, Clerk & Comptroller, in U.S. currency. Never mail cash, and confirm the total and delivery arrangement for your actual order.

Order E-Certify when an electronic certified copy is accepted

The court-search page links Order E-Certify Court Documents by Case Number. E-Certify is available around the clock for offered records; the certified document can be downloaded immediately after purchase and is also emailed to the address supplied. It bears the clerk’s digital signature. Confirm your receiving organization accepts this format before ordering.

Each E-Certify document adds a $6 convenience charge to the $1-per-page copy fee and $2 certification charge, plus the listed 3.5% card-processing fee. For ten pages, the listed pre-card total is $18. This differs from the paper-copy total; check the order summary for your document.

Download and retain the delivered file and receipt. The verification link expires one year after purchase. If the case or document cannot be viewed online, the clerk directs customers to the appropriate office for certified records. E-Certify assistance is available at 727-847-8086, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.

Arrange a paper-file visit before traveling

Call ahead with case numbers: East Pasco Records Retention, 38319 McDonald Street, Dade City, 352-521-4489; or Jack Albert Records Retention, 8902 Government Drive, New Port Richey, 727-847-8962. The clerk suggests 9–11 a.m. or 2–4 p.m. to avoid its busiest periods and asks visitors requesting 12 or more files to arrive before 3 p.m.

Older closed files may have been destroyed after retention requirements were met; some survive as filmed records. Confirm the file’s location and surviving format instead of assuming an absent image means there was no case. Paper retrieval has no fixed completion promise on this page, so arrange availability with the records center.

For Florida-wide history, select an FDLE search

FDLE’s Instant Search costs $24 plus a $1 card-processing fee and supplies an immediate printable or emailable result without certification. Its staff-conducted certified/non-certified option costs $24 and returns results by U.S. mail; published processing is five business days without certification or six to seven with it, excluding delivery. These Florida history products are separate from a Pasco court copy.

For an agency-directed ORI search, obtain the valid ORI from the requesting agency. FDLE cannot supply it, and the fee and authorized recipient depend on that route. Do not buy a public instant search if your licensing or employment instructions require a different submission.

Address an exposed detail or an inaccurate result at its source

The Clerk’s Court Records page links Protecting Personal or Confidential Information for documents that may expose protected details. Use that process and identify the precise document instead of assuming every public image is unrestricted. For a missing page or incorrect copy, contact Court Records with the case number and order reference.

A Florida-history error has a separate FDLE personal-review/challenge route for the individual or designated attorney. It requires the personal-review form and fingerprint card; contact 850-410-7898 or [email protected] for assistance. Preserve the official court disposition to explain the discrepancy. Public name-search results should not be treated as fingerprint-confirmed identity matches.
